TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00] Hey, beautiful people. I’m on a break, so you’re going to be listening to a stress therapy classic episode from this time last year. It is a hustle bustle stress buster episode trying to get you through this holiday season. Because, yes, it can be very stressful. But first, I’m going to play you a 13 stories song. 13 Stories was a band that I ran around with many, many, many moons ago. But one of my all time favorite songs that we wrote and record and performed was Christmas makes me hot by 13 stories. Enjoy. See you soon.

[00:41] Love.

[00:41] In a Christmas chat room we met online he told me that he had a beard and was a small guy. Did I mind? I told him I’m pretty sure myself he mentioned he worked at the mall and was a Christmas elf. I never thought it happened we fell in love so madly I’ve been loving tight Since Christ that’s on my boyfriend called out Bradley I wait every day in line by sent this way to get a chance to say I want.

[01:11] That up on Christmas Day oh, I gotta see that elm oh, I gotta kiss my elm for myself Every Christmas now Christmas makes me hot we’re the.

[01:29] Cutest Christmas couple you’ve ever seen he loves to trim my tree and everything we do is red and green he likes the sip Coke going ice skate he makes me toys by hand My sexy elf is great I’ve been so naughty with him But I love the purse it’s coffee docking suffers not making the list all work throw another log on my elf song how can it.

[01:58] Be wrong when he gets off early and brings that knock oh, I gotta see that elf oh, I gotta kiss my el A little dumb and for.

[02:11] Myself Every Christmas now Christmas make me.

[02:16] Hot it’s gotta go back up north after the first I’m gonna miss his boy shoes and high voice It’s a Christmas curse I kiss his little shoulders.

[02:59] They’Re sweet tiny fuzzy sweaters I’ll miss my Christmas tree oh Santa don’t make him go back to the pole I’ll be here till next year sending candy letters praying for snow wild I missile somewhere on my evergreen so in my heart I know he’ll be back next.

[03:19] Year to love me so oh, I gotta see that l oh I gotta kiss my l a little something on myself Every Christmas now Christmas, Christmas oh, I gotta see that l oh, I gotta kiss my cell Every Christmas now Christmas makes me ha la Every Christmas.

[04:00] Every Christmas hey, beautiful people. Whoa. There is a lot going on right now. Every time you turn around, you got to get dressed. For a party and you got to wrap a present it. And then you got to remember this person on your list, and then you got to show up to your kids thing and make sure they’re ready for that. And you might even be leaving town or having to hang out with a bunch of people you might not really like that much. It’s a lot during this time of year. And so today I’m going to give you just a couple of tips that you do have time for it. That’s the crazy part. We’re going to do it anyway. And then we’re going to meditate the littlest meditation and just show up and remember to take care of yourself during this lovely time of year. So relax, settle in, and listen up because your stress therapy session is about.

[04:40] To begin right now.

[04:57] Beautiful people, it’s time for some stress therapy podcast about how to meditate and get better at stress for people living in the real world. Finally, a place to park my 25 plus years of experience of working as a psychotherapist in the mental health field. And now your host, me, the stress therapist, Sherry Flake. Hey, beautiful people. What’s up? So today is a great day because it’s my first day in my new.

[05:36] Little Pink treehouse studio.

[05:39] Yes, I have transformed the kids unused and long unloved treehouse into a Little podcast recording studio for music and podcasting and all of it. And it’s amazing. Now, I have not finished hanging up all of the soundproof Little Hexagon tiles that I found on Etsy that were amazing.

[06:01] So I don’t know how good it.

[06:03] Is with sound, but we’ll see. Right? So here we are. I’m going to keep this really quick because remember, this is about getting on the cushion, keeping up your stress therapy practice. So it’s going to be short and sweet. Here’s your first stress tip, buster. When you start to feel overwhelmed, think about what you’re thinking about. What am I thinking? Oftentimes, you are thinking way in the future. It starts off with, I got to get up, I got to take a shower, I got to do this, I got to do that. I got to finish this, I have to call this person, I have to send this email, and then I have to do this. And then all of a sudden, you find yourself thinking about the next weekend and then Christmas or New Year’s or whatever, and those things are weeks away. So here’s what you do in order to get yourself back. Grounded, feeling calm. You reel yourself in as if your thoughts are fish and you are sitting on your little, teensy, beautiful fishing boat. Maybe it’s pink, who knows? And you throw out your line, okay? You throw it out there, all the way out to Christmas, all the way out to New Year’s, all the way out to Hanukah, all the way out to Valentine’s Day. I don’t care where it is, okay? But it’s always in the future, right? And you just reel yourself back in. You stop, you take a quick breath, you remember what moment you are in. The only thing that’s real is this very moment. I don’t even know how I’m going to end this sentence. Kind of. This kind of now, right? Nothing’s going to happen in the future. It’s all going to happen now. Nothing has ever happened in the past. It all happened now. So you don’t want to miss it and be stuck in the future. And then that way you’re not even enjoying the holidays that you’re freaking out about. Okay, second little stress tip, buster. When you are out shopping and you’re wondering if you should buy something for someone, go ahead and buy it. Everybody has great return policies. It is no big whoop to return things, but it is a big whoop to get something last minute that’s not thoughtful or lament over the gift card or whatever. Okay? Go ahead and buy whatever it is. In fact, buy two, okay? And I know my mother in law doesn’t listen to this podcast, so I can say, yesterday I found this robe. I don’t know if she’s going to like it. It Looks really beautiful. I got it@naturallife.com. Which is like this new website that I’m totally loving. If you want to go there, they have great stuff for teens. Side note, I am getting together my gift guide for my newsletter. If you want to jump on that at my website, Ilovetherapy.com. I’m going to be sending that out within a day or two. I don’t know if she’s going to love this robe. So what did I do? I bought two, two different colors. Bought them, bring them home, see how they look, see how they feel. Show them to my kids, show them to my husband, all these people that love her and know her, get their opinion and return the other one. No big whoop. What ends up happening usually is that you have a robe for some other beautiful person in your life, and then.

[09:06] You have two gifts instead of one.

[09:09] So let’s quickly meditate. This is going to be a quick one. Here we go. One, two, three.

[09:13] Meditate with me. Take a moment to find your beautiful sitting position. Allow your body to be as comfortable as it can be. As you arrange yourself comfortably, remember that comfort is queen. That’s what my teacher, David G. Always says to me. So allow your head and face to settle into your position. Allow all the muscles around your eyes and jaw and neck. Allow your shoulders to settle, your arms and wrists and hands. Find a place to put your hands comfortably. Allow your heart center to settle in your belly. Your spine is straight and your chin is level to the ground. Come into the pelvis, finding this beautiful space of sitting alert but being calm. Allow your legs to settle, your thighs and calves and shins and ankles and feet. Just do a quick scan. And now bring your awareness to between your eyebrows. This place of knowing and wisdom, this third eye. And we’re going to start with the sound that the universe makes. It’s a nice little reminder of what’s happening right now. It’s the sound of all creation.

[11:00] Ohm. Ohm. Ohm.

[11:11] Say it a few times to yourself out loud.

[11:17] Oh.

[11:19] Then allow yourself to whisper this sacred word, om. Now go ahead and just bring it into your internal awareness, focusing on the mantra Ohm. Remember that when you start to go to the future or the past or anywhere else but ohm anywhere else but now. Gently bring yourself back. You’re going to meditate on your own with this mantra for just a few minutes, and I’ll be back to guide you back out.

[11:55] Ohm.

[16:14] Sound of Ohm this beautiful vibration, this excellent energy that ohm brings to you. Allow it to fall away from your awareness. Come back into your beautiful body. Take a long, slow, deep breath in your nose. Let it all go out of your mouth. Allow that cleansing breath one more time. A big, deep breath in your nose. Let it all go out of your mouth. And when you’re ready, you can open your beautiful eyes.

[16:56] You.

[16:59] So I kept my word. It was short and sweet, just like me.

[17:04] I hope you have an amazing holiday season, and please consider giving yourself or.

[17:10] Someone that you love the very best gift ever.

[17:12] A yoga and meditation retreat. I have two coming up in January.

[17:16] 1 is a New Year’s, a new mindset. It’s over the New Year holiday.

[17:21] It’s going to be amazing at the beach at Jekyll Island. It starts on December 29. And then we have one coming up January 19 in the beautiful Hartwood Retreat Center. I actually just got back from a five day retreat there. It was amazing. It’s so beautiful there. The food alone. Oh, my goodness. Go to ilovetherapy.com to get more information and sign up.
