“L-O-V-E this class! I walked in with doubts and fears and stress — but I walked out with concrete action steps that have already (less than an hour later!) relieved some of my to-do- list anxiety. Cheri taught us things about the inner workings of our own minds that I had no IDEA were even happening! Now, this stuff makes a lot more sense AND I feel like I have some power over it. She helped me remember the real joy is in the moment, not in the check mark on completion — although that feels pretty great too.”

Mary Beth, Atlanta, GA
“Just knowing that Cheri exists has been a big takeaway for me. Cheri is a very positive high energy therapist. I really like her style. I enjoyed that her techniques were result oriented and I liked hearing the science behind it all.

I had never done anything like this before, so I was skeptical. But, not at all after the first session, which was free. I signed up the very first day there, that’s not typical behavior for me, but I just thought it would be very helpful.

When I signed up I had no idea what to expect. I thought it would be much more organizational based. I was pleasantly surprised that there was so much spirituality involved. It made it easier and more fun because Cheri seems open to anything.

The Rock Star Mom series is a bit hard to describe. For me, it was a bit of therapy with a whole lot of practical techniques to feeling better and being a happy mom.

I really enjoyed learning about the Mothers of Motivation and I have had some success keeping that in mind in my personal endeavors. I am also looking forward to using Cheri’s Habit Tracker. I even enjoyed Cheri’s Guided Meditation where I visited, loved and reassured my younger self.

It was really nice that Cheri provided childcare for the moms. Although, I wasn’t in a situation where I could utilize this service, I really appreciated that it was available.

I would absolutely do this series again. If you’re debating it, I say, just give it a shot and try it once!

Many people struggle with depression after heart surgery, and I am unfortunately one of them. I feel better knowing that Cheri is there for me if I need her and, after taking the Rock Star Mom series, I actually have a whole new set of skills for my life and the motivation to go along with it.”

Sarah, Atlanta, GA, Mommy of Two
“I have absolutely changed for the better since taking the Rock Star Mom Workshop Series. My husband has even commented on it multiple times and said how happy he was that I was going to the seminars.  He says he thinks it made me more confident and positive. Raising a three year old is still hard, but I regained the image of myself as a complete person and not just a frazzled mom.  It inspired me to place myself high on the priority list, so I’ve been seeing friends more often and have even signed up for a painting class to jump-start my inner artist, which has been buried underneath the diapers and princesses and tea parties!

I loooved the first guest speaker, and I think her message was the perfect one to kick off the series (Elizabeth O’Brien, LPC). I learned to really slow down, enjoy the present without panicking and find more peace admits the chaos. Plus, her energy was a great counterbalance to Cheri’s, showing that the series was going to focus on the mother as a whole. Actually, a couple of guest speakers really hit home for me and I would absolutely consider hiring them or participating in another workshop with them.

After taking the series with Cheri, I started using my phone for calendar/to-do/shopping list/etc.  I had resisted this for years, but it really has made organizing my life much better.

Having something inspirational to look forward to every week was my favorite part of the series. I loved learning the new mantra, “It’s easy and I like it!” I’ve used it so much, I sometimes annoy myself with it! 🙂

I was surprised at some of my responses to the ideas and techniques that Cheri presented. I was deeply moved by the guided meditation. In fact, I was glad to hear the following week that everyone else was seriously affected by it, because I cried for like 10 minutes in my car in the Kroger parking lot after I left the seminar that day.

Cheri has an effervescent personality. She is genuine, extremely positive, but based in reality.

I’m a skeptical person. I wasn’t sure about spending the money on the series and had some serious reservations because we have a very structured budget, but the first session was free and it won me over. I knew right away that this wasn’t going to be a typical, cheesy, “how to be a better mom” seminar. I even had a friend that went to the free session, did not sign up for the series, but will attending some of Cheri’s workshops after hearing me rave about it (and she’s the most skeptical of all!)

I can find the good in others and myself a bit easier now. This only only makes me feel more peaceful and happy.”

Tiffany, Avondale Estates, GA, Mommy of One
“I had a feeling that the Rock Star Mom Series would be valuable – but I didn’t know it would super fantastically-valuable!

If you really want to be a more genuine and better version of yourself, please do this.Everyone wants to be a better mom, wife and person, but a lot of the time we don’t know how… Cheri can actually teach you HOW.

This series will surprise you and absolutely give you some valuable tools to be a better and happier mom.

the guest speakers added a lot for me. Going in, I thought the guest speakers might just be fluff.  But, at almost every session, I walked away thinking, ‘I want to talk to that person again.’

Cheri gave some simple homework assignments that forced me to think about the things I want to achieve, accomplish and be in my life. It was so helpful because it’s easy now to be able to go back to and refresh my memory so I don’t just slip back into my old ways.  This reminds me what I truly want and how important it is to keep it up.

I also took away what it really means to have the ‘the power of positive thinking’ and using visualizations to make it more enticing. What was interesting (and convincing) is the science supporting it – how the brain filters and presents info to us based on what we are thinking about.

Cheri really taught me how to take every day disappointments and turn them into positives (i.e. someone took my parking spot, but I’m gonna burn more calories by parking farther away).  This really struck a chord with me and I continue to work on it today.

My life is very different since taking the series. Like everyone, I am faced with situations every day – some pleasant and some unpleasant – and I’m forced to make a conscious decision to let it envelop me or let it roll. The simple tools, exercises, and thoughts I took away from the series put the decisions and their ramifications in perspective.

Honestly, my favorite part of the series was just being in a room with other like-minded moms. I felt a real sense of togetherness and support from the group, and I liked the dialogue generated by Cheri’s talks. And I liked knowing that I was really, truly doing something that would help me AND my family.

I was surprised by my sense of willingness to try new tactics to deal with the stressors in my life. We are so used to doing things the same way over and over again, and that’s hard to change. I don’t consider myself a particularly new-agey person, but I loved the meditation, visualization and the idea that I was improving myself without medicine, diet, or any other ‘additive’.

Cheri is dymanic and passionate. She really loves what she does. It’s refreshing to find an “expert” that’s just like everyone else – society puts them on a pedestal. But Cheri embraces and uses her commonality (for lack of a better term) to help others.

My biggest post-series concerns are just returning back to old ways of thinking. I’ve always thought of change as hard.  It requires a conscious effort and I don’t want to forget all the skills and tools that I learned with Cheri.  I don’t feel like overwhelmed by it all, though.  I just might have to do it all again!

I would absolutely do this series again. IT’S WORTH IT! Put your skepticism away… and give it a shot, for sure.

I didn’t know exactly what to expect, and the Rock Star Mom Series just went above and beyond.”

Emily, Sandy Springs, GA, Rock Star Mom Workshop Series Attendee
“She is ebullient, passionate, soulful and cool. This workshop was different than others because it focused on more of an explanation of ‘how to’ which I loved. Cheri helped me release the idea of ‘right or wrong’ with meditation. We experienced different ways to meditate and how to incorporate meditation into our lives. My big take aways were knowing that I have to feel good to help a new habit become a reality and that my brain will try to stop me from just sitting. I wish this workshop was even longer! Cheri’s office is so soothing and conducive to relaxation. Cheri really brings her personality to her work which is so warm and welcoming. If you are considering one of Cheri’s workshops, it is really time and money well spent!”
Sharon, Decatur, GA, Meditation Workshop Attendee
“Cheri Augustine Flake is a human dynamo who has the ability to change lives. I attended her seminar on “The Mystery of Meditation Uncovered: Learn how to meditate and make it a habit!” With non-stop energy, she told stories, shared quotes, stated facts, and convinced me that meditation was beneficial. Showing whimsical laughter as well as therapeutic concern, she held my unwavering attention during her entire seminar. With her soothing voice, she guided me into meditations where I focused only on the present moment. I highly recommend this seminar to anyone who wants to experience the gamut of knowledge and insight that Cheri offers. Thank you for such an informative, high-energy presentation. Because of your personal passion and conviction about the subject matter, I plan to make meditation a habit and reap the benefits you stated to expect so that I too will be more creative, sleep better, and be an all-around happier person! Thanks again for a life-changing evening!”
Terry Wynne, Ed.S., LPC, NCC, BCC – The Professional Edge – Workshop Attendee
“This was a fun, cut-the-bull workshop where we learned how to get inside our own brains and make our brains work for us. We learned how to set up systems to be our organizer, that way we can spend our time DOING instead of always planning. We also learned how to put a little more fun in our days to live a fuller life. I learned to actually schedule some FUN time —something that makes you YOU and to invest in some systems that will pay you back in time, time & time again! Cheri is engaging, honest and fun… she teaches you about yourself, about people and does it in a fun way. I knew I’d get ‘something’ out of it, but I ended up getting a lot out of it.”
Lana, Brookhaven, Mommy of 3, “How to Use Technology to Find Inner Peace” Workshop Attendee
“I wanted you to know that I thought your workshop was AWESOME. Really and truly AWESOME. I felt so good after I left, and am working hard now on my assignment. I am so inspired by the idea of calming my brain and using technology (who knew?!) to make my life quieter. Quieting your brain is key. I keep reading about mindfulness, and I was having a hard time figuring out how to get all the things done that I need to get done, and yet still live in the moment. If I can master your technology tips, I think that I’ll have achieved both – productivity and peacefulness. Wow! Thank you!! And I’m going to sign up for more workshops (the mediation one, maybe), and tell my mama friends all about what a great experience the class was for me!! Yay!!”
Elizabeth, Lawyer, Business Owner and Mom of 2
“If you are thinking about going to one of Cheri’s workshops, it is definitely worth it! You really do get to focus on you as a person which helps you to become a better mom. It gives you a lot of good ideas to think about and not just with parenting and the kids, but with everything in your life. I’m a stay at home mom and my husband travels during the week. So, I don’t have that much time to myself. I thought this workshop series might help me become refreshed and find some time for myself. I was right…The most valuable part for me was learning about my brain and how it effects procrastination. Now, I do things right away instead of putting it off or telling myself that I will do it later. Now, I just get it done immediately. I feel so much better and things get done so much faster. This frees up so much time for me.I also found the lessons on how the brain and the mind argue very interesting. It was easy to see this in myself. Now, I’m able to be conscious of my brain trying to convince my mind of certain things like, “I don’t have time.” Since I’m conscious of it now, I can work on having my mind win out. This has helped significantly with exercise, and things that I would normally put off just don’t do.Since the workshop series, I know that I’ve been less stressed out when I’m around my kids. I try to enjoy the moments more and things just don’t bother me like they used to.I used to find myself just snapping at the kids and just becoming irritated and now I take a deep breath and try to enjoy them at this age.I definitely think that the workshop has helped me focus on them being kids and enjoying the time that I have with them. I remind myself that I know it will all go by quickly so I am more patient.I did love that the workshops were at Leapin’ Lizards because I knew the whole time that the kids were having fun. I really liked having the different points of view from all of the guest speakers. I enjoyed meeting the other moms and what they had to say about their own kids. This was especially interesting because some had kids that were much older than mine and I could see what was in store for me and my family.Cheri is energetic, positive and has some really good insights. This was my first time doing anything like this. I had some concern about spending the money, but after attending the first free class, I got to see what it was all about and meet Cheri – And, that sealed the deal for me! I think the workshop series with Cheri is a really good way for moms to improve their overall lives. Everything was just perfect and exactly what I needed to hear. Overall, it was great and I am so glad that I went! I got a lot out of it and I definitely suggest that moms go for it.”
Hilary, Atlanta, GA, Mommy of Two
“I enjoyed it so much, I am planning on taking the whole series again!

This workshop series will make your relationship with your kids and husband better and my family is worth it!

The thing about these weekly workshops, is that they really touched on a lot of things that I had been thinking about on my own. The series just really reinforced it all, made it real for me and even easy to get into my life. This whole idea of being present is an idea that I had been playing with and thought about, but hadn’t really put into practice yet. Applying mindfulness to motherhood really worked for me.

I’m already more present with my kids and the idea of connecting with my kids really means something now.

I am interested in listening to some hypnotherapy now, as well. It was really validating to hear that every mom has their thing, and I don’t have to take on every mom’s thing! Even though I was probably aware of this, it was nice to hear that you just can’t do everything really well and that this is perfectly ok.

I learned from Cheri to figure out the one or two things that are really important to me and to just focus on and feel good about those things. I recently made the decision to hire out someone to help my daughter with her homework. There are so many other things that I would rather do with her! Our interactions are much more meaningful now and this makes being a mom way more fun.

The concept that motivation follows action was a huge realization for me. This helped me get moving on a lot of things that I had otherwise let fall by the wayside. I am actually using a calendar app now. I had been introduced to calendars before and apps to use, but the series really reinforced why it is important and gave me some direction.

I didn’t really get how important and crucial and helpful planning and calendar keeping was until I heard Cheri talk about how it works in her life. She talked about how she has literally no stress regarding what is coming up in her day or week because l because her appointments and schedule is reliably set up in her calendar and there is no reason to think about it until she decides to look at it, edit it or do weekly planning.

I really appreciated the guest speakers. It was nice to learn from experts – people with experience and knowledge that can teach me something I can use in my own family. I will probably end up hiring the professional organizer and the parenting expert to help me with some ideas that I have for our family.

I loved that the workshop was focused. I like that it felt comfortable speaking up or asking questions, but it was cool that Cheri was in control. I never felt like I was missing out on valuable material because moms were droning on and on. Cheri is very energetic and enthusiastic. She has so much excitement about her work! I feel like there was so much really useful and practical information and that there is even more to learn from Cheri.

I just want to take the class again because there is so much that I want to reinforce in my head a little more. My only regrets are that I wish I would have taken better notes, and I wish the classes were a bit longer. I know that there are more nuggets of wisdom that I could get simply by taking the series again.

I value learning from an expert and I feel that I got my money’s worth for sure. Managing your life is a big deal and if you can learn new strategies to make your life better, then why wouldn’t you go for it?? The mindset was invaluable for me…I totally think it’s worth the money. I have so many leads on where to go from here…and I realize that there is so much more to learn. Cheri gave me the seeds to grow these ideas that will help in making me and my family much happier.”

Coaching Testimonial

“My job requires that I be physically fit, so it became a serious issue when I could no longer meet annual fitness testing requirements following development of a serious medical condition that was misdiagnosed for more than 2 years. By the time I obtained a proper diagnosis and treatment, my general health had declined significantly, I was unfit, and I had become obese.

I didn’t make any progress towards preparing for and successfully completing my annual physical fitness test in a previous coaching experience. I immediately began making progress when I began working with Cheri and, after many years of frustration, I not only met the minimum fitness test requirements (level 1), but for the first time in my life, I was able to complete level 2. And a few days after my test I ran a 5k! I’m excited to see the weight loss results when I step on the bathroom scale and to now share my new running habit with my 10 year old daughter – we will be participating in a 10k race tomorrow. ☺

I initially worked with a coach in 2009, a year after getting a proper diagnosis and treatment, to help me prepare for and pass the annual fitness test. We spent a lot of time talking about the goal, but we never got to the action or implementation phase during six months of weekly coaching calls! It seemed to be a case of ” paralysis of analysis.” I came away from that coaching experience not only frustrated by the lack of progress but, worse, having increased self-doubts and self-loathing.

Working with Cheri was a much different experience.

Fast-forward to summer 2013 and I’m still unfit, obese and needing to pass get back in compliance with fitness requirements for my job when I came across a workplace seminar by Cheri about how to make goals become a daily habit. I was blown away by what I heard that day. What most intrigued me was that Cheri spoke about the dilemma I had been living with for years – constantly “thinking” about the dreaded fitness requirements but not making any progress towards really restoring my health and fitness. I could tell that she gets the fact that determination is a necessary but insufficient ingredient to satisfying a goal. Cheri explained how the brain works and how it may sabotage efforts to change – and I recognized that what she was describing the inner battle that had been holding me back from meeting my fitness goal for so many years.

I immediately thought, this is someone who can help me get out of my own head and actually help me change for good. I was pleased that this turned out to be the case.

A key piece for me as was the emphasis on making incremental progress. Taking baby steps reduced the feelings of overwhelm and quite literally took away the excuses not to move forward. I could no longer tell myself “I don’t have time to run” because I was only going around the block! For once, I was not starting at the goal on day one and assuming I would just change!

Checking off The Habit Tracker was my favorite part. I had done a lot of goal setting related to health and fitness, but keeping my goals at my bedside and reviewing them daily with clear incremental weekly habits and goals was what did it for me. This kept me focused and more likely to exercise because I was reminded every day why this was important to me. The Habit Tracker turned out to be a tool that intercepted the negative self-talk that had repeatedly been tripping me up. This tool was especially invaluable to me on those days when I was feeling tired and consumed with meeting my day to day responsibilities.

Cheri is energetic, very positive, and a real doer. She doesn’t just talk about it all, she really walks the walk.

After really struggling to achieve my fitness goal for many years, it is remarkable now to look back at how simple the steps were to implement and how easy the process became

By the time I started working with Cheri, my self-confidence had been shot and the annual fitness test seemed an insurmountable challenge. Had I not seen her talk, I might not have committed to the coaching sessions. But, I could tell that Cheri had a unique understanding of how to form and sustain habits and I was excited to start working with her right away.

If you’re ready to commit to change, and you can’t seem to just put one foot in front of the other, I suggest that you begin by contacting Cheri to set up a free consultation so you can review how her coaching program might benefit you in reaching your goals. Because she has multiple packages, you could set up just a few sessions to get your feet wet and see how Cheri is truly different.”

“Hi Cheri – I attended your training session last month on ‘Using Technology to Find Inner Peace.’ I wanted to let you know that many of your tips were excellent for the person that finds themselves in a more modern business world and standing at the crossroads of embracing, ignoring or fighting new technologies. You removed the fear and made the topic and technologies approachable and practical. That’s half the battle! But most importantly, you created a “can do” environment in the room and delivered your presentation with such great energy that it made it easier for a person to say “I can do this!” Well done. Thanks.”

Our program model consist of 4 silos of direct services: 1) Affordable Housing; 2) Case Management; 3) Mentoring (financial and family); and 4) Life Skills Class. I attended the National Association of Social Workers Georgia Chapter annual conference in 2013. I attended Cheri Flake’s Why Won’t They Just Do It workshop. My goal was to learn new strategies to motivate the families I work with so they could make the behavior changes needed to meet their goals. Her perspective and presentation was fresh and effective, and l left motivated to make changes in my own life. I quickly realized that I needed to get Cheri in front of our families. We invited Cheri to speak at a required Life Skills Class in February 2014. As you might expect, this requirement is often loathed by our families. However, we had an overwhelming response from the families regarding Cheri’s presentation. I had several clients contact me the following day to express how much they enjoyed the presentation. That never happens! In April of 2014 we conducted a survey of our families to evaluate Life Skills Classes. We hope to evaluate the feedback prior to planning the new sessions for the fall. Cheri’s presentation was the clients’ favorite, citing that it was “real world stuff” and “please do more classes like Cheri’s.” Thank you Cheri for making me look like a rock star for finding you!”
