Tip #1: Delegation
Ask yourself: What can I pass off?
For me, one easy answer is social media management for my business. This is a time suck because I don’t understand it well and I’m admittedly not that good at it.
Next, ask yourself: Do you need this thing?
Me: Ugh, Probably
Do you enjoy this thing?
Me: No, not one bit
Could someone else do this for you?
Me: Yes, Absolutely
Be sure you’re not stuck on thinking that you must do all things for them to be right! This is a trap!
Ok, so delegate!
Don’t stop there, keep moving…
Who can do this for you?
Bonus points if your answer is, “my kids” or “my spouse”!
Tip #2: Scheduling Skills
What exactly do they need to do to get it off of your plate?
Make a clear list and put the tasks associated with delegating on your calendar.
Make sure that every single task that you have to complete has a place to park on your calendar so you know exactly what you are doing each day — to the exclusion of all other things — and when!
A quick cross-check with my Reminder app will help make sure that nothing gets left behind. Tasks that don’t live on a time slot in your calendar are guaranteed to get pushed off and add up contributing to the overwhelm.
I completed this task this morning!
Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
Tip #3: Motivation
Schedule something, ANYTHING — a special event or experience — to look forward to!
You can use the date of the event as a hard deadline to add to finishing all the crud that is stuck on your list and making you nuts so you know just when you’ll finally be FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Here’s what I’m looking forward to, y’all! It can be YOUR THING TOO! Come with me!!
